Started as a segment on Cartoon Sushi, with Charles Manson vs. Marilyn Manson, Celebrity DeathMatch was an American stop-motion animated series developed by Eric Fogel for MTV Network. The show primarily spoofs the sports entertainment genre by having depicted various celebrities engaging in wrestling with the added violence, allowing weapons and abilities to brutalize each other until one is killed, as the title suggest. Tse original series run from 1998 until 2002 on MTV, with a revival for MTV 2, which lasted from 2006 and 2007.
Another revival is in the works, with Ice Cube being involved project. The earliest date this version is due mid-2019, yet this seems to be on hold indefinitely.
DeathBowl '98[]
Despite not being part of the season, as it was a second pilot meant to be a special during Super Bowl XXXII games, it's still considered canon due to the reference in the episode "Nick Returns" when Garth Brooks opted to take out Marilyn Manson after what he saw. For a plot (warning spoilers and doesn't end well) can be view at this link.
- Fight 1: Howard Stern v. Kathie Lee Gifford
- Fight 2: RuPaul v. Pamela Anderson Lee
- Fight 3: Hanson v. The Spice Girls.
Trivia[]
- Geri is the only one without a voice, unlike the others who had at least one line.
- The girls were address by their nicknames, rather than their birth name.
- Blaze Berdahl and Lisa Lyons provided the voices for the girls.
- It was also the first episode of the entire series that a character, Emma, attempted use a weapon , chair, on their opponent.
- WARNING: Spoiler!:
- There has been a fan-theory in regards to Ricky Martin going after Marilyn Manson despite Grath Brooks reasoning for doing the same as part of the canon. The theory goes that since one of the women was clearly seen moving her arm, effectively (in theory) a win for the Spice Girls by default. This is due to a loophole that didn't say all have to live, as it was clearly pointed out in other episodes, such as a Halloween special two members of the rock band, KISS, were the last ones standing. However, this has yet to be confirmed as Martin doesn't bring up any of the women during his appearance, dealing with Manson.
