Five is a television channel that broadcasts in the United Kingdom. Launched in 1997, it is the fifth and final national terrestrial analogue television channel to launch. Originally called Channel 5, the station rebranded itself as Five in 2002 and back in 2010 to Channel 5.
Pre-launch[]
Prior to the launch, the Spice Girls have done a photo shoot and recorded a extended promo for the the television channel.
The Girls were at Marble Arch, London to promote Channel 5. They posed for photocalls in front of a Chanel 5 branded large model of remote control as well as a Channel 5 branded taxi cab (see gallery below).
The launch[]
The channel's launch on Sunday 30 March 1997, at 6:00 pm and featured the Spice Girls singing a re-written version of Manfred Mann's hit 5-4-3-2-1 named Power Of Five, and a music video was also done which premiered on the channel as well.
Presenters Tim Vine and Julia Bradbury introduced the nation to the UK's fifth terrestrial channel with half an hour of previews afterwards.
